Mapping of European Innovation Ecosystem Players

As part of WP5 Pan-European Integration (EU-UA Gateway), Luxinnovation team together with Seeds of Bravery consortium has mapped the key stakeholders of the European Innovation Ecosystem (EIE)

What is EIE mapping ?

The EIE mapping is based on data updated in October 2024 and comprises over 1600 entities. Those have been classified by : Country, Main category, Support Type and Engagement.

In terms of geography, local networks of Consortium partners of Seeds of Bravery were targeted, namely: Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland,  Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine. Recently Belgium was added as well as a few entities from the United Kingdom. 

In terms of types of stakeholders, this network comprises startups associations, incubators, accelerators, and deep tech innovation communities, fostering collaborations between EU and Ukrainian entrepreneurs, researchers, and innovators. 

For Whom ?

The mapping is primarily designed to support Ukrainian startups, enabling them to grow and integrate into the European innovation ecosystem. However, it also serves any innovator, regardless of geography, who seeks to innovate within European networks. Additionally, various stakeholders within the European Innovation Ecosystem can leverage this mapping to create interlinkages and foster collaboration:

  1. Ukrainian Startups: Tech innovators looking to expand their reach in European markets.
  2. Global Innovators: Any innovators aiming to connect and innovate within European networks.
  3. Stakeholders: Incubators and Accelerator; Startups Associations; Deep Tech Innovation Communities; Investors; Research Institutions and Universities;Policy Makers; Media and the Public.

How to use the mapping ?

The mapping can be utilized in various ways to foster collaboration and support growth within the European Innovation Ecosystem:

  1. Networking Opportunities: Ukrainian startups can identify potential partners, mentors, and investors to facilitate their integration into the European market.
  1. Collaborative Projects: Research institutions can find other institutes or startups to collaborate on innovative projects or joint research initiatives, leveraging each other’s strengths.
  2. Market Expansion: Ukrainian startups can use the mapping to find the right support to expand their operations and access resources in new geographical areas.
  3. Finding National Contact Point: This page eases EIC applications by providing contacts for support.
  4. Fostering Women-founded business: By working on a mapping dedicated to women, UASEEDs aim at helping female entrepreneurs find the best support to develop. 
  5. Policy Development: Policymakers can analyze the ecosystem’s composition and dynamics to create supportive policies that foster innovation and economic growth.
  6. Knowledge Sharing: Stakeholders can identify areas of expertise and facilitate knowledge transfer among different entities, enhancing the overall innovation landscape.
